چکیده
We offer an explanation to the simulation result of Austin (2009) regarding rate ratios, and argue that unmatched analysis of propensity score matched count data results in conservative statistical inferences on the rate ratios.

Propensity Score Application in the Relationship of Screen Time and Metabolic Syndrome in Adolescents: the CASPIAN-III Study
Aim: This study aimed to assess the relationship of screen time and metabolic syndrome (MetS) among Iranian adolescents. Materials and Methods In this nationwide study, the propensity score (PS) was used in a matched case-control study design. The data was obtained from 5,625 students aged 10-18 years, who participated in a national school-based surveillance program. MetS was defined accordi...
متن کاملA critical appraisal of propensity-score matching in the medical literature between 1996 and 2003.
Propensity-score methods are increasingly being used to reduce the impact of treatment-selection bias in the estimation of treatment effects using observational data. Commonly used propensity-score methods include covariate adjustment using the propensity score, stratification on the propensity score, and propensity-score matching. Empirical and theoretical research has demonstrated that matchi...
متن کاملاستفاده از Propensity Score برای همسان سازی نمونه ها در یک مطالعه مورد شاهدی
Background and Aim: Case-Control studies provide evidence in the area of health. Validity and accuracy of such studies depend to a large extent on the similarity (similar distributions) of the case and control groups according to confounding variables. Matching is a method for controlling or eliminating the effects of important confounders. Matching using propensity score has recently been intr...
متن کاملStatistical Criteria for Selecting the Optimal Number of Untreated Subjects Matched to Each Treated Subject When Using Many-to-One Matching on the Propensity Score
Propensity-score matching is increasingly being used to estimate the effects of treatments using observational data. In many-to-one (M:1) matching on the propensity score, M untreated subjects are matched to each treated subject using the propensity score. The authors used Monte Carlo simulations to examine the effect of the choice of M on the statistical performance of matched estimators. They...
متن کاملComparing Weighting Methods in Propensity Score Analysis
The propensity score method is frequently used to deal with bias from standard regression in observational studies. The propensity score method involves calculating the conditional probability (propensity) of being in the treated group (of the exposure) given a set of covariates, weighting (or sampling) the data based on these propensity scores, and then analyzing the outcome using the weighted...
